Lemon Thyme (Thymus citriodorus)

Lemon Thyme

Thymus citriodorus

A low, bushy evergreen herb forming a tidy mound of small, lemon-scented green leaves, typically 6 to 12 inches tall and spreading 12 to 18 inches wide. It grows best in full sun with well-drained soil and low to moderate water once established, tolerating heat and lean conditions. Pale pink to lavender flowers attract bees in summer, and the aromatic foliage releases a citrus fragrance when brushed. Use as an edging and small-scale ground cover, between pavers and stepping stones where light foot traffic releases its scent, in herb borders, rock gardens, and parking strips.
