Soleirolia soleirolii
Angel’s Tears, also sold as Baby’s Tears, is a creeping evergreen groundcover that forms a fine textured, moss like carpet only 1 to 4 inches tall, spreading indefinitely by rooting stems. It thrives in part to full shade with consistent moisture and rich, well drained soil; it dislikes hot, dry exposure and will brown without regular water. The tiny, rounded bright green leaves create a soft, dense mat prized for its lush texture rather than its inconspicuous flowers. Use it to fill shaded ground between stepping stones and pavers, line moist borders and water features, underplant in shady beds, or carry a delicate green floor in atrium and courtyard plantings.
