Lonicera japonica
Hall’s Honeysuckle is a vigorous, semi-evergreen to evergreen woody vine that twines to 15 to 30 feet and roots where stems touch soil, making it a fast bank and slope cover. It performs in full sun to partial shade and tolerates a wide range of soils and moderate water once established, though it grows densest with regular irrigation. From late spring through summer it carries fragrant white flowers that age to pale yellow, attracting bees and hummingbirds. Use it for erosion control on large slopes, on fences and arbors, or as an aggressive groundcover; note its rampant growth and plan it where vigor is an asset.
