Lantana Trailing

Lantana montevidensis

A vigorous, low trailing evergreen subshrub that mounds 1 to 2 feet tall and cascades 3 to 6 feet wide on long, lax stems. It thrives in full sun, is heat and drought tolerant once established, and tolerates poor soils, making it a workhorse for low-water and reflected-heat sites. Clusters of lavender to purple flowers bloom nearly year-round in mild climates and draw butterflies and pollinators. Use it for slope and bank cover, parking-lot islands, retaining-wall spillover, and large color masses; it can suffer frost dieback in cold pockets but recovers quickly.
