Verbena canadensis
Rose verbena is a low, spreading perennial that mounds and trails 6 to 12 inches tall and spreads wider, with deeply cut, toothed green leaves on stems that root where they touch soil. It performs best in full sun with low to moderate water and sharp drainage, blooming over a long warm season in clusters of rosy purple to pink flowers that draw butterflies and other pollinators. Heat and drought tolerant once established, it works well in dry borders, slopes, and habitat plantings. Use it as a flowering groundcover, in the front of beds, and for spilling over walls and raised edges.
