Narrow leaf Milkweed

Narrow leaf Milkweed

Asclepias fascicularis

An herbaceous California native perennial with slender, whorled, narrow leaves on upright stems reaching about 2 to 3 feet tall, dying back to the root in winter and reemerging in spring. It grows in full sun, is drought tolerant once established, and adapts to a range of soils, performing well with occasional summer water. Clusters of pale pink to greenish-white flowers bloom in summer; it is a key larval host for monarch butterflies and a strong choice for pollinator gardens, habitat restoration, and low-water perennial borders.
