Ceanothus ‘Centennial’
‘Centennial’ is a low, dense, fast-spreading evergreen groundcover ceanothus, typically 1 to 1.5 feet tall and spreading 4 to 8 feet wide, forming a tight carpet of small, bright green, glossy leaves. In spring it is covered with intensely deep blue flowers, making it one of the showier low-growing selections. It does best in full sun to partial shade with reasonable drainage and benefits from occasional water in hotter inland sites, remaining drought tolerant once established. Use it for slope and bank cover, erosion control, edging, and dense low-water groundcover where a brilliant blue spring display is desired.
