Ceanothus thyrsiflorus var. griseus ‘Carmel Creeper’
‘Carmel Creeper’ is a low, mounding to spreading evergreen ceanothus reaching about 1.5 to 3 feet tall and spreading 5 to 15 feet wide, with broad, leathery, glossy green leaves. It grows in full sun to part shade, tolerates coastal wind and salt well, and is drought tolerant once established while accepting occasional summer water in cooler zones. Light blue flower clusters appear in spring, drawing pollinators. Use it as a coastal groundcover, for slope and bank stabilization, spilling over walls and raised beds, and in low-water and habitat landscapes.
