Yarrow (Achillea)

Yarrow

Achillea

A tough, clumping perennial reaching roughly 1 to 3 feet in height with an equal spread, forming colonies of fine, ferny, aromatic foliage. It thrives in full sun and is highly drought tolerant once established, asking for only occasional water and tolerating lean, fast-draining soils. Flat-topped flower clusters rise above the foliage through the warm season in shades of white, yellow, pink, and red depending on selection, drawing pollinators and holding up well as a cut flower. Use it in low-water borders, meadow and prairie-style plantings, parking strips, and erosion control on dry slopes.
