Ajuga reptans ‘Chocolate Chips’
A compact, small-leaved carpet bugle reaching just 2 to 4 inches tall and spreading by runners to form a tight, fine-textured mat. Its narrow chocolate-brown to bronze-green leaves stay low and dense, performing well in part shade to full sun with moderate water and good drainage. Short spikes of blue-violet flowers appear in spring above the diminutive foliage. Use it as a refined groundcover for tight spaces, between stepping stones, along shaded path edges, and as a tidy filler in mixed perennial and shade plantings.
