Delosperma ‘Purple’
This low, spreading ice plant builds a dense succulent mat 18 to 24 inches across and only 2 to 4 inches high, studded with shimmering, daisy-form flowers in vivid purple above semi-evergreen, water-storing foliage. Plant it in full sun with excellent drainage; once established it is strongly drought tolerant and needs little supplemental water, while disliking wet feet. Well suited to sunny slopes, rock and gravel gardens, parking strips, and border fronts, and a reliable choice for erosion control and low-maintenance color in hot, dry exposures.
