Duchesnea indica
A vigorous, low spreading ground cover that mounds 2 to 6 inches tall and runs outward by rooting stolons to fill in quickly. It carries bright green, strawberry-like trifoliate leaves with small yellow flowers in spring and summer, followed by ornamental red fruit. Adaptable to full sun or shade and tolerant of moderate foot traffic, it takes regular to moderate water once established. Good for shady fillers under trees, slope cover, and naturalized areas where a fast, soft green carpet is needed.
