Blue Fescue (Festuca glauca)

Blue Fescue

Festuca glauca

A compact, clumping ornamental grass that forms tidy rounded tufts 8 to 12 inches tall and wide, prized for its steely silver-blue, needle-fine foliage. Slender flower spikes rise above the mound in late spring to summer, then fade to buff. It grows best in full sun with well-drained soil and is drought tolerant once established. Effective massed for color and texture, used as edging, repeated in rows along borders and parking strips, and worked into rock gardens and low-water plantings.
