Trachelospermum asiaticum
A dense, low-growing evergreen woody ground cover that spreads by trailing, rooting stems to form a tight mat roughly 6 to 18 inches tall and several feet across. It performs in full sun to partial shade with moderate, regular water once established and tolerates a range of soils. The small, glossy dark green leaves provide year-round cover, and mature plants may carry sparse, fragrant creamy white to pale yellow blooms, though it is grown primarily for foliage. Use it as a tough, mow-free lawn substitute, on slopes for erosion control, along parking strips, and as a uniform mass under trees and shrubs.
