Ajuga reptans ‘Bronze’
A fast-spreading evergreen groundcover that hugs the ground at about 4 to 6 inches tall, rooting as it runs to knit a dense weed-suppressing carpet. This selection carries deep bronze to purple-tinged foliage that holds its color best in sun to part shade, and it accepts moderate water in well-drained soil. Short spikes of blue-violet flowers stand above the foliage in spring for a strong seasonal display. Use it as a durable groundcover under trees and shrubs, along shaded borders and pathways, on gentle slopes for erosion control, and as a low-traffic lawn alternative.
