Lampranthus aurantiacus
A compact, shrubby succulent ground cover that grows about 1 to 1.5 feet tall and spreads 1.5 to 2 feet wide, forming dense mounds of upright, fleshy gray green leaves. It is well adapted to full sun, fast draining soil, and low water, making it strongly drought and heat tolerant once established. In late winter and spring it covers itself in a brilliant display of orange, daisy like flowers that open in sunlight. Use it for slope and bank cover, erosion control, rock gardens, coastal plantings, parking strips, and low water borders.
