Dichondra repens
A creeping, rooting perennial ground cover that forms a dense, lush carpet of small, kidney-shaped bright green leaves, typically holding to 1 to 2 inches tall and rooting along the stems as it spreads to knit together quickly. It grows in full sun to partial shade and prefers regular water, performing best with consistent moisture in well-drained soil. Its tiny greenish flowers are inconspicuous, with the appeal residing in the soft, even foliage; it works as a low-traffic lawn substitute, a filler between stepping stones and pavers, and a fine-textured green cover for borders and small open areas.
