Dwarf Mondo Grass (Ophiopogon japonicus 'Nana')

Dwarf Mondo Grass

Ophiopogon japonicus ‘Nana’

A compact, grass-like evergreen perennial forming dense tufts of fine, dark green arching foliage that reach only 2 to 4 inches tall and slowly spread by underground stolons. It performs best in partial to full shade with regular, even moisture, though established plantings tolerate brief dry spells. Inconspicuous pale lilac summer flowers are followed by small blue-black berries, but the plant is grown chiefly for its tidy turf-like texture. Use it as a no-mow lawn substitute, between stepping stones and pavers, as a shaded groundcover, or for edging walks and borders where a fine, uniform mat is wanted.
