Vinca minor
Dwarf periwinkle is a trailing evergreen groundcover reaching about 4 to 6 inches tall and spreading by rooting runners to form a dense, weed-suppressing mat. It thrives in part shade to full shade with moderate water, tolerates a range of soils, and produces lavender-blue, five-lobed flowers mainly in spring with scattered rebloom. Its smaller leaves and tighter, less aggressive habit distinguish it from Vinca major. Use it for shaded slopes, under trees, and erosion control on banks where turf will not establish.
