Thymus serpyllum ‘Elfin’
One of the most diminutive thymes, forming a tight, slow-growing cushion just 1 to 2 inches tall and spreading roughly 6 to 12 inches, with miniature dark green aromatic leaves packed densely on the stems. It wants full sun and sharp drainage, and is very drought tolerant with low water needs once established. Tiny pale lavender-pink flowers dot the mat in summer. Ideal for tucking between pavers and flagstones, edging tight borders, filling crevices in rock gardens, and creating a fine-textured, low-traffic lawn substitute in small spaces.
