Penstemon heterophyllus ‘Margarita BOP’
This selected foothill penstemon forms a tidy, mounding evergreen perennial about 1.5 to 2 feet tall and wide, with narrow, slightly glossy green to blue-green leaves. In late spring through summer it produces an extended show of tubular flowers that shift between iridescent blue and rose-violet, attracting hummingbirds and native bees. It is notably tough and adaptable for the species, taking full sun to light shade, lean to average soils, and low water once established. It works well in borders, rock gardens, parkway strips, and mixed low-water native plantings where a reliable, long-blooming accent is wanted.
