Gazania leucolaena
Trailing Gazania is a fast, ground-hugging evergreen perennial that spreads by trailing stems to several feet, forming a tough mat 6 to 10 inches tall with silvery gray-green foliage. It thrives in full sun and is highly drought tolerant once established, performing well in poor, fast-draining soils and tolerating heat and coastal conditions. Cheerful yellow daisy flowers appear over a long season, opening in sun and closing at night. Use it for broad sunny slopes, erosion control, parkways, and low-water mass plantings where reliable color and quick coverage are needed.
