Ajuga reptans ‘Green’
A vigorous evergreen groundcover growing 4 to 6 inches tall and spreading readily by rooting runners to form a lush, glossy green carpet. It adapts to full sun through fairly deep shade, takes moderate water, and prefers well-drained soil, knitting together quickly to crowd out weeds. Upright spikes of blue-violet flowers rise above the foliage in spring. Use it as a broad groundcover beneath trees and shrubs, in shaded borders, on gentle slopes for erosion control, and as a low-maintenance lawn substitute in light-traffic areas.
