Santolina chamaecyparissus ‘Green’
An evergreen Mediterranean subshrub that mounds one to two feet tall and slightly wider, distinguished from the silver type by its finely cut, aromatic bright green foliage. It needs full sun and sharp drainage, is highly drought tolerant once established, and performs well in hot, dry, lean soils. Button-like yellow flowers appear above the foliage in summer and respond well to shearing for a dense, rounded habit. Use it for low water-wise borders and edging, dry slopes and rock gardens, and as a green-foliage companion to the gray form in Mediterranean and low-water landscapes.
