Honeysuckles are vigorous evergreen to semi-evergreen vines and shrubby growers that climb or scramble depending on species, commonly reaching 10 to 20 feet of vining growth or filling in as a sprawling ground cover on banks. They perform best in full sun to part shade with moderate water and adapt to a wide range of soils. Tubular, often fragrant flowers in shades of white, yellow, pink, orange, or red appear from spring into summer and draw hummingbirds and pollinators, with some species followed by ornamental berries. Use on fences, trellises, arbors, and walls, or to cover slopes and large banks for erosion control and screening.
