Korean Grass

Zoysia tenuifolia

A fine-textured, warm-season zoysiagrass that forms a dense, slow-spreading mat and mounds gently over time, typically kept very low and reaching only a few inches if left unmowed. It thrives in full sun with moderate water once established, going tan to dormant in cool weather and greening up with warmth. The wiry, very fine blades create a soft, undulating no-mow carpet that resists most weeds once filled in. Use it as a low-water lawn alternative and groundcover, for filling between stepping stones, and on gentle slopes and meadow-style plantings where a billowy, manicured texture is wanted.
