Thymus serpyllum ‘Mother of Thyme’
A classic, dependable creeping thyme forming a flat aromatic carpet about 2 to 4 inches tall and spreading 12 to 18 inches, with glossy dark green leaves on trailing stems. It favors full sun and well-drained soil and is notably drought tolerant, needing only low to moderate water once established. Profuse rosy purple to lilac-pink flowers cover the mat in early to midsummer and attract bees. A workhorse for lawn substitutes, planting between stepping stones and pavers, softening border edges, filling parking strips, and holding soil on gentle slopes.
