Persicaria capitata
A vigorous, low spreading groundcover growing only 3 to 6 inches tall and spreading 1 to 2 feet or more, with small oval leaves often marked by a distinctive dark chevron and reddish tones. It tolerates full sun to partial shade and takes low to moderate water, performing best with some warmth and quickly knitting into a dense mat. Tiny pink, ball-shaped flower clusters are carried on short stems through much of the warm season. Use it as a fast filler in narrow strips, between stepping stones, on banks, and for quick coverage in transitional spaces; note that it spreads readily and can self-sow.
