Aptenia cordifolia ‘Red’
A fast-growing trailing succulent groundcover reaching about 6 inches tall and spreading 2 feet or more, clothed in glossy, heart-shaped green leaves on fleshy stems. It thrives in full sun with very low water once established, tolerating heat, lean soils, and coastal conditions while demanding good drainage. This selection produces small, vivid red daisy-like flowers through the warm months that open in bright light. Use it for quick cover on sunny slopes and banks, erosion control, parking strips, and spilling over walls and raised beds in low-water and fire-wise plantings.
