Thymus serpyllum ‘Red’
A tough mat-forming creeping thyme growing 2 to 4 inches tall and spreading 12 to 18 inches, with small aromatic dark green leaves on tight trailing stems. It thrives in full sun with sharp drainage and is very drought tolerant, needing only low to moderate water once established. This selection produces deep magenta-red to rosy crimson flowers that smother the mat in early to midsummer and are highly attractive to bees. A strong choice for lawn substitutes, planting between stepping stones and pavers, edging walkways, filling parking strips, and stabilizing dry slopes.
