Campanula poscharskyana
Serbian Bellflower is a vigorous, low spreading perennial groundcover that forms a dense mat 4 to 6 inches tall and trails 2 to 3 feet wide, rooting along the stems as it goes. It performs in full sun along the coast and prefers part shade inland, with regular to moderate water once established. From late spring into summer it carries an abundance of star shaped, lavender blue flowers over heart shaped green foliage, often reblooming if sheared. Use it to spill over walls and rockery, soften path edges and steps, fill borders, or cover slopes and shaded ground where a tough, fast knitting carpet is needed.
