Mimulus bifidus
White monkeyflower is a bushy, semi-woody evergreen subshrub growing roughly 2 to 3 feet tall and wide, with narrow, slightly sticky green leaves. In late spring through summer it produces relatively large, broad-lobed, ruffled tubular flowers in creamy white to pale yellow with a soft apricot blush, attracting hummingbirds and native pollinators. It prefers full sun to part shade and well-drained soil, performing best with low to moderate water and good air circulation. Use it in borders, rock gardens, slopes, and chaparral or native plantings where its large, pale blooms provide a softer color note.
