Salvia apiana
White sage is an evergreen shrub reaching three to five feet tall and as wide, with whorls of silvery white, aromatic foliage that holds color year round. It thrives in full sun and well drained soil, and once established it needs little to no summer irrigation, making it well suited to drought tolerant and low water plantings. Tall flowering stalks carry pale lavender to white blooms in spring and early summer that draw native bees and other pollinators. Use it on dry slopes, in chaparral restoration, pollinator gardens, and as a fragrant accent in coastal and inland Southern California landscapes.
