Thymus pseudolanuginosus
A flat, dense ground-hugging perennial reaching only about 1 to 3 inches tall and spreading 12 to 18 inches, clothed in tiny silver-gray woolly leaves that give it a soft, felted texture. It thrives in full sun with excellent drainage and needs only low to moderate water once established, tolerating heat and poor soils well. Pale pink flowers appear sparingly in summer, but the fuzzy gray foliage is the main interest. Use it as a tight lawn substitute, between flagstones and pavers, over rock walls, and on dry slopes where a low, drought-tolerant carpet is needed.
